Power Supply
The fixture has an 8’ cable with quick disconnect for each required power supply. This cable can not be extended beyond 8’. The power supply cable comes off the back left hand side of fixture. It does not come out of the end. The input is 60/50Hz with selectable voltage of 120V or 230V. All power in the hood is 24V DC. The power supply is powder coated black. The power supply is cooled via a fan. Caution: Water can enter power supply through cooling fan. Mount via wall mounting holes or set on dry surface. Dimensions: 12”L x 5.5”W x 3.75”H.

Fixture Cooling
Air needs to circulate through the fixture. If mounting in canopy, ensure there is air flow to the fans on each end of the fixture. The control board has a thermometer on board which will turn off the fixture if the LEDs get too hot. This will happen prior to any damage to the LEDs. The LCD will display a message stating the fixture became too hot. If this happens improve the air flow to the fans.

Mounting
The fixture can be mounted with, mounting feet which are supplied on tank, supplied eye hooks, or with optional pendant hanging kit. It is preferred to mount in the open air, but mounting inside canopy is fine as long as adequate ventilation is available to the fans. Ensure that the temperature stays between 70F and 110F. The cooler, the better.

Housing/Lens
The housing is extruded aluminum. The splash lens is acrylic. DO NOT remove acrylic lens because it exposes the LED board to saltwater splash and salt creep.

Control Board/LCD Display
All units include the control board with LCD input module. The LCD display has a step through menu to program the Auto settings. There is also a manual mode to bypass the auto setting to temporarily adjust light output of each of the LED strings. (This feature is to observe the tank under different color variations like 6.5k or actinic blue only). The only way to interface to the control board is through the LCD push button display.

Q. What does it mean by producing the same light output as a 400W Metal Halide 15K lamp?
A. The Solaris I4 Illumination System will produce similar PAR measurements on the bottom of the tank as a 400 Watt 15K MH Lamp. The LEDs are designed in 12" increments. You would need a 24" LED hood to produce the same light as one 400W Metal Halide Lamp which would cover 24" of tank length.
The coverage from the front of tank to back of tank is determined by the mounting height of the Solaris. The Solaris will produce light front to back equal to the mounting height, ie. If the tank is 18" deep and the Solaris is mounted 3" above the tank then the mounting height is 21". Therefore the distance front to back it will cover is 21".

Q. Will moisture damage the circuit boards in the Solaris?
A. No. All of the circuit boards have been treated with a protective coating.

Q. Can the Solaris lighting system grow corals?
A. Yes, corals are growing wonderful under the Solaris LED Illumination System.

Q. The Solaris units can be adjusted from 6.5K to 20K. What's the purpose of the 13K model?
A. The maximum PAR will be when you have all the LED's on. To adjust the LED from 20K to 6.5K you dim the Actinic Blue LED's. If a customer likes the 10-13K look, the customer would have to lose some PAR. The 13K model has fewer blues and more white LEDs which means they would start with more PAR at the 13K versus the 20K model.
